If you’re Googling “professional headshots in Louisville”, chances are you know it’s time for an update.
- Maybe it’s been a few years
- Maybe it’s a cropped wedding pic.
- Maybe it’s from your last job.
- Maybe it just feels… flat.
Whatever your reason, you’re here now which means you know it’s time to fix it.
Let’s talk about where to get a real headshot in Louisville, what the process looks like, and how to make sure you walk away with something that actually feels like you.

What Is a Professional Headshot?
Here’s how I think about it:
A professional headshot is a product shot.
But the product?
It’s you.
We’re selling something here—to clients, employers, speaking bookers, potential collaborators.
People are more likely to do business with someone they feel they can know, like and trust.
That is the job of your headshots
It’s the image that represents you when you’re not in the room.
So it better show presence. Energy. A bit of spark.
Not just “face, chin, shoulders, smile, click.”
Where Do You Get A Professional Headshot in Louisville?
Easy answer: You work with a photographer who:
- Specializes in headshots (not weddings)
- Knows how to coach expression, not just ask you to smile
- Actually helps you feel comfortable in front of the camera, even if you think you’re not photogenic
- Is genuinely concerned that you walk away with professional headshots that represent you as you want to be seen
That’s what I do. I won’t pretend to be impartial here.
If you’re reading this, you’re probably already considering it—so here’s what you can expect:
The Professional Headshot Process
Preparation for your headshots
I am here as much as you need me to be before your session. I will answer any questions you have to help make your time in my studio as easy and stress free as possible. When you book your appointment, I will email you some styling tips to help you get ready. Not only that but my website is full of helpful tips like what to wear for your headshots, how to prepare, should you wear a tie, and so much more. Be sure to look through the blog section!
Show up for your headshots
Most people tell me, “I hate having my photo taken.”
Great. That’s literally what I’m trained for.
You don’t need to know how to pose or smile. I’ve got you.
This is not an “Ok now smile.” situation. I will guide you through the entire process to ensure that we get genuine expressions that look like you. Im guessing when you are talking to someone in real life you don’t jam a big fake smile on your face. We don’t want that for your headshots either. If we are going for smiles, I’ll get real ones. If we are going for something more subtle, we will make sure that is confident and approachable.

Pick the best headshots
You don’t have to wait to know that we got great headshots for you. I work with my camera tethered to my computer. We will see your headshot happening in real time. You will know without a shadow of a doubt that we are crating headshots that you like while we;re working.
At the end of your session, you and I will review your images together and I will help you make your final selections. There is zero stress of “Am I making the right choice?” I won’t let any image that isn’t fantastic leave this studio.
Headshot retouching and delivery
Every image you select will be retouched. We aren’t aiming to make you look plastic. We want you to look like you, but i will remove any blemishes, stray hairs etc. Every image will be clean. polish, and ready for you to post on LinkedIn, your website, press kits, business cards, and all of the other places that you’ll use your new headshots.
What The Headshot Process Is Not
- It’s not a rushed in-and-out photo factory
- It’s not overly retouched until you look like a wax sculpture
- It’s not some weirdly intense staring contest with the camera
- It’s definitely not you being left to “figure it out” alone
If you’ve had that experience before, let’s reset the bar.
How to Know It’s Time To Update Your Professional Headshots
Here’s the quick checklist:
- Your last headshot is more than 2–3 years old
- You don’t love your current one—but you’ve been putting it off
- You’ve changed jobs, industries, or titles
- You’ve updated your hair, style, or “overall vibe”
- You’ve lost/gained weight
- You cropped it from a wedding, vacation, or selfie
(You know who you are.) - You just don’t like the headshot you have now
If you wouldn’t confidently hand that image to someone who could hire you, refer you, or promote you, it’s time.
FAQ
How long does a headshot session take?
Times can vary. On average I say block out 30 -60 minutes. The more clothing options you bring or if you are working with one of my trusted makeup artists, we may go a bit longer. The important thing is we are never rushed.
Can I bring outfit options?
Absolutely! Bring as many as you like. You and I will go through them together and decide what you are going to feel the most comfortable in and what will look best on camera.
What if I’m awkward in front of the camera?
Then you’re like 95% of my clients. You’ll be fine. You’ll probably leave saying, “That was actually fun.”
How much editing do you do?
Enough to make you look polished and professional—but never fake. You’ll still look like you.
Do I really need a new headshot?
If you’re asking, the answer is probably yes.
