Can I book professional headshots for the same day?

As an appointment-based studio, I can’t guarantee same-day sessions. My online scheduler won’t allow bookings inside a 24-hour window. That said, life happens. People change jobs, speaking gigs pop up, LinkedIn decides to blow up your profile… and suddenly you need a new headshot right now. If you’re in that situation, call the studio at 502-509-3759. If I can work you in, I absolutely will.

What backgrounds do you offer for professional headshots?

The most important part of your headshot is you. If someone notices the background before they notice your expression, you've got a problem. That’s why I photograph all professional headshots on white or grey. Both keep the focus exactly where it should be and never compete with your face. This also gives you far more flexibility when you use your images. Clean backgrounds make it easy to add text, graphics, or cropping for different platforms without anything looking messy. For corporate teams, white or grey also keeps your branding consistent and future proof. Outdoor headshots might look nice in [...]

Do you do professional headshots teams or corporate groups

Yes. I photograph teams and corporate groups of all sizes. Companies like Louisville Paving & Construction, Goldberg Simpson, and others work with me to keep their entire team looking consistent and professional. If you have a large group, you can book a dedicated studio day or I can bring the studio to you. Everyone is photographed on a clean white or grey background with my signature lighting. Each person gets coaching in front of the camera so we capture genuine expressions, not stiff “school photo” smiles. Your team will also review their images with me on the spot and [...]

What’s the difference between a professional headshot and a casual photo?

A professional headshot is the one photo where you are the product. It’s an image built to speak directly to employers, clients, and professional connections. Everything about it is intentional. The lighting, the angle, the expression coaching, the posture, the background. All of it is designed to make you look confident, approachable, trustworthy, and like someone people want to work with. A casual photo is exactly that. It might be a great shot from a friend’s wedding or a night out, but those photos exist to document a moment, not represent your personal brand. They’re not built to connect [...]

How Often Should I Update My Headshot

We see ourselves in the mirror every day, so we don’t always notice how small changes add up over time. Before you know it, the headshot on your website or LinkedIn stops looking like the person people meet in real life. For most professionals, updating your headshot every two years keeps things accurate and credible. There are times when you should update it sooner. If you’ve gained or lost weight, changed your hairstyle, grown a beard, shaved a beard, or made any noticeable change to your appearance, it’s worth refreshing your headshot right away.

Should I wear my glasses for my headshot?

If you wear glasses in your everyday life, we should absolutely create headshots with them on. If you sometimes wear them and sometimes don’t, we can photograph both looks so you have options. Some lenses show more glare than others, depending on your prescription and the lens material. I’ll adjust lighting and angles to minimize,or completely eliminate, reflections so your images stay clean and professional.

Do I need a blazer, or can a shirt alone work for professional headshots?

If your business culture is one where clients usually see you in a blazer or suit coat, it’s worth bringing one along. We can photograph both with and without it so you have a range of looks to choose from. That variety gives you flexibility for different uses, your company website, LinkedIn, speaking engagements, or press features, all while keeping your personal brand consistent. What should I wear so I look credible on LinkedIn and my company site?

Start simple: wear something you like and feel confident in. From there, don’t overthink it. Think about how your clients or peers expect to see you in person and start from that. The goal is to look like you on your best day. If you’re unsure, bring a few clothing options to your session so we can create a range of looks. That way, you’ll have options that feel right for LinkedIn, your company website, and beyond. For a deeper dive, read my full guide: What Should I Wear For A Professional Headshot

How many professional headshots do people usually end up choosing?

There’s no set number. Some clients buy one or two, others choose twenty or more. Since you’re not a one-dimensional person, I always encourage selecting a range of images you can use in different situations. One might feel right for LinkedIn, another for your website’s About page, and something slightly different for local press or speaking engagements. You’ll be surprised by how often you’ll need a great headshot once you have them.
