My clients deserve the best, and The Beauty Patrol is one of the ways I help ensure they have the best. Those of you who’ve been in the studio for professional headshots or acting headshots might already be familiar with The Beauty Patrol.
For those who haven’t yet had a chance to work with them (what are you waiting for, by the way, let’s get you into the studio!), they’re a team of the best makeup artist in Louisville, headed up by the fabulous Pam Butler. I definitely encourage you to check them out, especially if you’re in need of amazing bridal or special occasion makeup.

Pam and her team frequently do makeup for my headshot clients. During the course of the sessions, Pam is often asked for tips on improving the skin and completion. The topic has come up often enough that she put together a list of 5 things that you can do for better skin RIGHT NOW!

1: Drink Water
The average adult human body approximately 60 % water. As stated by many H2o is your number one skincare partner. If you are not consuming enough water, your skin can look tight, dry, and flakey. Drinking lots of water can help you look hydrated and healthy.

2: Take Your Vitamins
Vitamins can help your skin just like they help your body. Did you know that a hyaluronic acid supplement will help with dark circles under the eyes? Vitamin E, D, and C also improve skin health. For others, collagen and biotin help with aging skin.

3: Keep It Clean and Moisturized
A skincare regimen of cleansing and moisturizing is key to your skin health and vitality. Masks, scrubs, and serums help your skincare target your specific concerns. There are many choices available but I prefer Limelight by Alcone for my clients because it is an organic, chemical, and paraben-free product for both skincare and makeup.

4: Do Not Sleep In Your Makeup
Your skin is an organ that needs to breath to restore itself. Sleeping in your makeup hinders that process and can cause clogged pores, blackheads, inflammatory acne, and flaky, red, irritated skin. Not to mention sleeping in eye makeup can cause corneal abrasions, inflammation of the delicate skin tissue around the eye, and eye infections.

5: Get a Good Night’s Sleep
As stated in number 4, the skin needs time to restore itself. Much of that happens while you are sleeping. Aim for 7-9 hours as often as you can. It will help with fewer fine lines and wrinkles, giving the skin a natural glow, and less puffiness around your eyes.

BONUS!!

6: SPF
The sun’s rays can damage your skin. Use a good sunscreen!
